15 MWh Energy Storage System Agreement Between Polat Enerji and SolarToday: Powered by iNOVAT’s Local Solutions

Polat Enerji has signed a supply, engineering, and construction agreement with SolarToday for the installation of a 12.8 MW / 15.176 MWh energy storage unit using CATL-brand batteries, as part of a storage-based capacity increase at its Ege Wind Power Plant. While SolarToday Türkiye will handle product supply for the project, the turnkey integration and commissioning of the system will be carried out by iNOVAT, one of Turkey’s pioneering companies in the field of energy storage. Additionally, the project will utilize iNOVAT’s domestically developed Energy Management System (EMS).

A signing ceremony was held on Thursday, January 2nd at the headquarters of Polat Enerji for the Storage-Based Capacity Increase at the Ege Wind Power Plant, which has an installed capacity of 15.2 MWm and is owned by Polat Enerji. The event was attended by Polat Enerji CEO Cem Deniz, SolarToday Türkiye CEO Mario Dalsarfati, and iNOVAT Energy Storage Solutions Managing Partner Can Tokcan.

During his speech at the ceremony, Polat Enerji General Manager Cem Deniz stated: “Turkey has experienced impressive growth in renewable energy over the past decade. At Polat Enerji, we aim to be a pioneer not only in renewable energy generation but also in the field of energy storage. Our goal is to optimize production imbalances and improve the production profile. This strategic project once again highlights the critical role of energy storage technologies in increasing renewable energy capacity. Through this project, we aim to create a success story that can also serve as a model for the European market. We are proud to take this important step that will help unlock Turkey’s immense renewable energy potential and contribute to the energy transition and a sustainable future.”

SolarToday Türkiye CEO Mario Dalsarfati noted, “We have been supplying internationally certified products in the renewable energy sector across 25 countries in Europe for over 14 years. We are pleased to be partnering with one of Turkey’s leading companies, Polat Enerji, on a wind power project that includes energy storage.”

Commenting on the agreement, iNOVAT Managing Partner Can Tokcan emphasized that, “As a technology company focused on engineering and software, we aim to contribute as much as possible to Turkey’s energy transition through our solutions in energy storage and energy management systems.”

A Pioneering Step in Energy Storage in Turkey

The supply of products for the 15 MWh advanced energy storage system to be integrated into Polat Enerji’s EGE WPP project in Izmir will be handled by SolarToday Türkiye. The turnkey integration and commissioning of the system will be carried out by iNOVAT, one of Turkey’s leading companies in the field of energy storage. Additionally, the project will utilize the domestically developed Energy Management System (EMS) by iNOVAT. Through this project, Taliva Enerji, which operates SolarToday’s activities in Turkey and Eastern Europe and is one of Europe’s largest providers of solar and storage solutions, is setting a milestone as one of Turkey’s first major energy storage implementations.

This project marks a new era in energy storage infrastructure by combining globally proven battery technologies and power conversion systems (PCS) with local Energy Management Systems (EMS) and engineering solutions. The system will enable electricity generated from wind energy to be stored and transferred to the grid when needed, manage production imbalances, and maximize revenues through trade optimization. While optimizing wind energy production, the project will also significantly contribute to the stability of Turkey’s power grid. It will highlight the importance of Battery Energy Storage Systems in increasing renewable energy capacity.
